A Career in EMS

Leigh Hicks, a 2012 graduate of Piedmont Academy, recently visited Ms. Elizabeth Davis’ eighth grade English class to share information about her career. Ms. Hicks originally enrolled in Georgia Perimeter College but later transferred to Georgia Piedmont Technical College, where she earned both a CNA and an EMS degree. She is currently employed almost directly across the street from the school at the local fire/rescue station. This local business provides both fire protection and EMS services. Ms. Hicks encouraged the students to consider a job in the medical field because it is exciting, challenging, and rewarding. She also shared some of her work situations in which her training helped her to handle efficiently and offered safety tips to the students about the dangers of speeding and the importance of seat belts and helmets.
